Obituary

William James O'Brien, Jr., 61, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2015. He was born in New York City to William and Lorraine O'Brien.

Bill or Billy, as he was more affectionately known, met the love of his life while playing volleyball on the beach. That day of fun in the sun set the tone for their relationship; one of tremendous love, outdoor adventures, soaking in the sun, and spending good times with great friends and family. Bill's laugh was absolutely infectious and he always passed you by with a smile. His uplifting spirit and attitude invaded those around him and he would never let anyone be sad. His laissez-faire personality made him a true joy to be around. His favorite pastimes were reading, especially Tom Clancy novels, and vacationing at his family home in North Carolina.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Nadia; his children, William J. O'Brien III, Bianca Michelle (Jud) Van Zee, and Robert Moran O'Brien; and his granddaughter, Zoie Marie Van Zee. Also left to cherish his memory are his mother and step-father, Lorraine and Donald Meltz; his siblings, Larry (Margaret) O'Brien, Tim (Terri) O'Brien, Pat (Ruby) O'Brien, and Cheryl (Michael Jones) Kettlehut along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may gather at 6:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071, where a Memorial Service will begin at 7:30 P.M.
