William Alfred
Mongeau Sr
September 28, 1942 – April 8, 2026
The world became a little less bright on April 8, 2026, with the passing of William” Bill” Alfred Mongeau Sr. Born on September 28, 1942 in Brockton, to Francis and Myrtle Mongeau, his smile, unending humor and infamous dance moves made every moment unforgettable and brought joy to everyone around him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sisters Beverly Croce, Roberta Webb, and Son William “Billy” Alfred Mongeau, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria del Carmen of 20 years, Son Richard (Chrissie) Mongeau and Granddaughter Alexis, Daughter Judith (Robert) Penn and Granddaughter Ashley (Nick) Murray, Daughter Cynthia (John) Luttrell, Grandsons Caine (Kelly) Mongeau, John Edward III, and Granddaughter Kinley Luttrell. He was also a dear Stepfather to Ximena Bilgeri, Brenda Bilgeri and son Thiago, and Barbara Bilgeri Barreda (Julio Vegas Juardo) and sons Gianluca and Tiziano.
Bill was a dedicated family man, a supportive friend, and a giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family and those around him had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He worked as a machinist for over 40 years, loved to figure out “how things worked” by taking them apart and putting them back together. If you mentioned something was broken, he would be there to fix it, no questions asked. He was also actively involved in the Deaf Community. Throughout the years, he was an active member of the Miami Deaf Club & North Carolina Deaf Club Associations; Playing and Coaching Softball Tournaments and Hosting Basketball Tournaments throughout the Country and up until his passing, visited the Broward County Association of the Deaf Club on a weekly basis. He loved to play cards, poker, cribbage… and Dance!
He shaped the lives of those around him—not with noise, but with purpose. Today, we honor a man who lived his life fully, gave without expectation, and left behind a legacy of strength, respect, and grace. His love, patience, understanding, wisdom and amazing sense of humor will live on inside us forever. He has given us gifts that are more precious than anything in this world
“Close to our Hearts he will stay, loved and remembered everyday”
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Broward County Association of the Deaf (BCAD) to help continue his legacy. Donations can be made via Zelle to BCADFLA@GMAIL.COM
A Memorial Service will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23rd from 3:00-5:00PM, and a “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held at the Broward County Association of the Deaf Club on Friday, April 24th at 11:30 AM. A burial will be held privately for immediate family
