Obituary

Wallace E. Holderness, Jr., 68, of Coral Springs, FL and formerly of Bethesda, MD passed away on December 29, 2015. He was born in Evanston, IL, the first son to Italian and German/English immigrants. Wally, as he was affectionately called, proudly served his country with the Navy during the Vietnam War before settling into his career as a Production Manager for a Not for Profit agency. In his spare time he volunteered with Sterling Rescue Squad and enjoyed participating in Civil War re-enactments. A SAG member, Wally also had roles in movies such as Gods and Generals, Miss Congeniality 2, Gettysburg, and several other movies and television series. Most recently, he became a published author with a short horror story titled "A Civil War Story" that was part of a compilation book of shorts entitled "Endless Darkness." Wally was a very humble man blessed with the gift of telling tall tales. He would play pranks on anyone and joked with those who were gullible. He enjoyed conversing with anyone willing to talk to him. Wally was privileged enough to give back and his charity of choice for nearly 30 years was Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He mentored young adults and loved being in nature. He not only enjoyed a good life but also enriched the lives of so many around him. Wally, with his wife and children, experienced art and culture around the world. One of his final comments was that he "lived a very good, full life." That is all one can ask for. The family will receive guests for visitation on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Snowden Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A Graveside Service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the visitation.
