Obituary

Susan Maria Euler (née Foster)

Susan was born November 10, 1961 in Yonkers, New York to parents Robert and Catherine Foster. The oldest of three daughters, Susan was talkative, silly, and never one to meet a stranger. The family moved to Coral Springs, Florida when Susan was ten and she became involved in community theatre at Opus XXX. Susan and her family enjoyed numerous family vacations during her childhood and were always taking silly pictures and living life to the fullest while enjoying each other's company.

Susan attended Broward Community College for two years before transferring to Florida State University where she studied abroad in London and majored in English, graduating in 1983. Susan was the Little Sister and Sweetheart of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity during her time at FSU.

After college, Susan began teaching at the age of 21 at Cooper City High School and then moved to Piper High School. Susan eventually found her home at Tequesta Trace Middle School where she taught theatre for 33 years. Her years at Tequesta Trace were spent surrounded by numerous friends who became family and remained a huge part of her life even after her retirement in 2023. While at Tequesta Trace, Susan founded Thespian Troupe 88241 through Florida Junior Thespians. She directed over 30 musicals and took her students to compete in Florida Junior Thespians at both the district and state levels. Susan and Troupe 88241 won numerous Critic's Choice and Best of Show Awards over their years competing. Susan created a family environment in her classroom for all those who entered and built the confidence of and fostered a love of the arts in the thousands of students she taught throughout her career.

Susan was a member of the South Florida Cappies Steering Committee, a member of the Florida Theatrical Association, and was voted Tequesta Trace Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2013.

Susan is preceded in death by her father, Robert Foster. She is survived by her mother - Catherine Foster (née Finizio), her daughter – Kelsey, her two sisters – Catherine (Eric) Gonzalez (née Foster) and Nancy (Michale) Hoffman (née Foster), as well as her niece and nephew – Amanda and Brandon.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00a at St. Gregory the Great Church in Plantation, FL. A reception will follow at 4:00p, location TBA.
