Rose Olivo was born in Carini, Italy on March 6, 1912 to Thomas and Concetta Virzi. She passed away on August 22, 2013 at the grand age of 101. She left school at an early age to work, as was standard in the early 1900's. After she immigrated to the United States, she spent a number of years in New York with her husband and children. Then in 1995 she moved to Florida. Rose is survived by her children, Nancy, Joseph and Rosalie; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1976 and her son, Sal, in 2005. There will be private viewing hours in Florida and then Rose will be transferred home to Long Island where the family will receive friends at Rocky Point Funeral Home, 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY 11778, (631) 744-9000, on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and again from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church at 9:30 A.M. with burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
