IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosa Julia
Villanueva
September 10, 1934 – November 18, 2019
Our dearest Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend to many, Rosa Julia Villanueva, originally of Ozone Park, NY passed away on November 18, 2019. She was 85 years old. Born in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico to Juan Villanueva Pérez and Antonia Cruz Rosado on September 10, 1934. She later relocated to New York City, where she raised her family.
There will never be enough words to describe what our mother means to
us and to those that knew her. Amongst many things, she taught us about kindness, love, compassion, honesty, and respect! She taught us to never give up despite the struggles. She was quick to offer a helping hand and never expected anything in return. One of Mami's most valuable lessons was instilling the importance of family, which sometimes extended beyond those who are blood related. At times we thought our mother was a magician because what we remember most about our childhood was that we didn't have much but it always felt like we had everything, and she made these wonderful meals from very little!
Our Mother has left a big hole in our hearts and yet again she has magically filled it with many wonderful memories that we will always treasure. Mami even though we will miss you terribly, it gives us comfort in knowing you are finally at peace and without pain. We know you are happy getting acquainted with those that left before you and now you are getting ready preparing to welcome them with the most wonderful meal while you watch your all time favorite show "WWE". Those that new her know that our mother was a wrestling fan and could name most by name.
Mami is survived by her children, Elba (Freddy) Ponton, Altagracia (Wilson) Paz, and Alfredo Valle; daughter-in-law, Carmen Valle; and grandchildren, Freddy (Melissa) Ponton, Jr., David (Ginna) Ponton, Zoila (Justin) Arnsworth, Jessica Paz, Jennifer Paz, Luis Valle III, Katherine Valle, Rosa Valle, Alfredo (Adrianna) Valle, Jr., and Crystal Valle. Also left to cherish her memory are her great grandchildren, Bryan Ponton, Brenden Ponton, Ella Arnsworth, Jack Arnsworth, Gabriel Ponton, Alice Ponton, Maya Arnsworth, John Arnsworth, Benjamin Ponton, Elizabeth Ponton, Deven Gonzalez, Jaden Omar, Jacob Valle, Alyssa Valle and Adrian Valle. Rosa was also expecting an additional great grandson (Michael Ponton) in April.
She was preceded in death by her son, Luis Valle, Jr; and 5 of her siblings.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 24 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Coral Springs Funeral Home, with a service begining at 3:00 P.M.
A tradition that began when we were children was to ask for our parent's blessing by saying "Bendicion" when entering and departing their presence. This is a tradition that continues in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mami, not only do you have our unconditional love, you also have our respect. Bendicion Mami. We love you yesterday, today, tomorrow and always. Te vamos a extrañar, y te queremos mucho!
