Robert F. Wilhelm, 94, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on Monday, September 12, 1921. He departed us on Monday, December 21, 2015 in Pompano Beach, Fl. He was the fourth born child of Hugo F. Wilhelm and Meta Orthmann.

He is survived by his children: Robert Wilhelm (Su): Cairns, Australia Thomas Wilhelm: Cairns, Australia Theodore Wilhelm (Bonnie): Coudersport, Pennsylvania Paul (Cheryl): Hopewell Junction, New York Seven grandchildren: Bo, Evelyn(Graham), Sophie, Adam(Ginny),Ryan(Mai Lai), Linnea(Herbert) and Lindsay(Daniel) Eight great grandchildren: Maxwell, Ezra, Alba, Shayla, Laura, Colton,Troy and Logan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. Wilhelm, Henry Wilhelm (brother), Helen Black and Elsie Winchell (sisters), Demetrius Wilhelm (grandson).

Robert held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He was an engineer and manager for AT&T Long Lines Division until his retirement in 1981. Robert was a World War II veteran. He was a Master Sergeant in the Army. He served in the USA and European theatres in the 244 Coast Artillery HQ First Army and 3103 Signal Service. He supported communication services for the US allies in Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland, Germany. He was awarded the American Defense Medal and EuropeanAfrican Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Amateur Astronomers Association and was an Amateur Radio Operator.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at John Knox Village in Pompano Beach, Florida on January 13, 2016 at 3 PM in the Chapel Village Centre. All are welcome to attend. Robert will be interred at the South Florida National Cemetery.
