Obituary

Robert (Bob) Walter Westbrook, 87, of Parkland, Florida, passed away at Aston Gardens on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Bob was born on Monday, July 9, 1927 in Binghamton, New York to his parents George E. Westbrook and Flora M. Westbrook (Kennicott). He grew up in Binghamton, New York in a Family that was in the automotive industry. He married Mary L. Storton in Binghamton, New York on April 30, 1948. After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and then began his career with IBM in Endicott, New York and moved into management roles in Rochester, MN and to International Procurement in Boca Raton, Florida, where he retired in the late 80's. Growing up in a car family he was always interested in the new cars coming out and the classics. He passed that interest onto his children. He later enjoyed collecting precision model cars and story telling (automotive of course). He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club in Rochester, MN, and served on the Coral Springs Planning Committee for a period of time. He always paid attention to being well dressed and he did not agree with an IBM decision to go to business casual. He always wore a sports jacket or a suit even in his retirement. He survived by his children, Robert D. Westbrook (Diana), Arlington Heights, IL, Thomas J. Westbrook and Garrison G. Westbrook (Vicky) of Coral Springs, Florida. Granchildren, Garrison G. Westbrook, Shannon (Westbrook) Corso, Jennifer (Westbrook) Gilreath and Kimberly (Westbrook) Farmer. Great grandchildren, McKenna and Tyler Corso. Brother, Phillip K. Westbrook (Colleen), brother. as well as many nieces and nephews, by his brothers and sisters and his late wife Marys brothers and sisters. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Westbrook on January 17, 2005. Father, George E. Westbook, December 25, 1944. Mother, Flora M. (Westbrook) Empett, December 17, 1980. Brothers, Richard W. Westbrook, November 30, 1950 and George Westbrook, December 26, 1996 as well as his sister Audrey (Westbrook) Rothenburg. Please see below for service information and directions.
