Robert "Bob" J. Pierro, 78, of Tamarac, FL, formerly of Port Jefferson Station, NY and Coral Springs, FL died on February 13, 2014. Bob was born on December 20, 1935 in Queens, NY to Pasquale and Mary Pierro. He proudly served our country with the United States Navy and shortly after being discharged, married the love of his life, Jane Shannon of Jackson Heights, NY. Together they raised a beautiful family in Plainview, Long Island until moving their family to Coral Springs, FL in 1980. Knowing their hearts always belonged in New York, Bob and Jane moved back to Long Island in 1993 where they bought their dream home in Port Jefferson Station. Bob retired from Verizon in June 2002, after over 40 years of dedicated teamwork as a splicer. In retirement Bob worked part time for Home Depot and as a school bus driver until moving full time to Tamarac, FL in 2011. Bob was also a Lieutanent with the Coral Springs Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Bob was also an avid and skilled carpenter and for anyone who knew him, knew of his love for carpentry and the many home projects that he did for his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Shannon Pierro. He is survived by his 4 children, Robert J. Pierro Jr., Janeanne Stefanowitz, Dianne DoRosario and Vincent J. Pierro; and 4 grandchildren, Alex Stefanowitz, Jr, Christina Stefanowitz, Cathryn DoRosario and Christianna DoRosario. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Port Jefferson Station, NY on February 25, 2014 . Bob will be laid to rest with his wife at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island NY.
