Richard Francis "Rick" Stalica, Jr., 59, of Coral Springs, FL died on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Broward Health Coral Springs after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Rick was born January 20, 1955 in Newport, RI to Richard and Gloria (DeLazzaro) Stalica. Rick was blessed with an unforgettable, contagious laugh and a personality that was loved by all. Rick met the love of his life, Chantal, at age 15 and proclaimed his admiration and love for her until his dying day. While Rick's favorite pastime was snorkeling or anything involving the beach, nothing could top the time he spent with his children and family. A true musician, he also loved to sing and was a talented guitar player. Rick's favorite restaurant was Marino's and he would often treat the family to traditional Italian dinners there...even though he was a fabulous cook himself. When his daughter, Kelly, married Edwin, he found the son he never had and looked forward to spending Sundays watching football with him. Rick spent almost 25 years working for Sun-Sentinel as a district manager. He then switched careers and worked as a coordinator for a messenger and courier service until he became too ill to work. Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Chantal Stalica Daughters, Kelly (Edwin) Torres and Amanda Stalica Adopted daughter, Michelle Sisters-in-laws, Viviane (Robert) Cooper and Maryvonne (Thomas) Krehel and Nieces, Christina and Holly Rick and his mother-in-law, Liliane Gonin, who he had a very special connection with, died less than 24 hours apart. He was also preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:00 P.M.
