Richard Steven Warren, 68, of Coral Springs, FL died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home. Richard was born June 1, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA to John and Anita Warren. He moved to South Florida in 1951 and grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area. He entered the Army in 1964, where among other things he served as a platoon leader during the Vietnam era, and left the military as a Lieutenant in 1968 after earning the Bronze Star. On June 2, 1968, he married the love of his life, Sarah Ann Mansfield. Within a month of being honorably discharged from the Army he began working for United Parcel Service. He remained with UPS for more than 30 years. He rose through the company and attained the position of Manager, allowing him to travel around the states continuing his life-long love of stamp collecting. Since retirement from UPS in 2001, he had collected stamps in several areas, but "Gun Advertising Covers" and "Confederates" were of particular interest. He had been a member of the American Philatelic Society for many years. He enjoyed doing APS sales books and moved into the APS Internet Stamp Store. This allowed him to see major collections from around the world, and add to his collections from various auctions and Philatelic Shows. He had been named Honorary Colonel of the Confederate Stamp Alliance. At the time of his death, Richard was the Treasurer for the Hollywood Stamp Club where he had been a member for more than 40 years. An honest, diligent and hard-working man, he was generous to so many, but never made a display or brought attention to himself. He was just being Richard. Everything he did, he did to bless and care for his wife, children and grandchildren. He worked from the age of 15 and was at his desk still working when he suddenly went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He epitomized Proverbs 20:7, "The righteous who walks in his integrity - blessed are his children after him!" Richard is survived by his wife, Sarah; his children, Rachel (Joseph) Stauffer and Steven (Becky Lynn) Warren; and his grandchildren, Caleb Russell, Anthony Stauffer, John Paul Stauffer, Jonathan Warren and Elijah Warren. He also leaves his siblings, Howard (Phung) Daniel, Michael (Linda) Lawler, Tony Miolla, Leslie Franchini, Penny Ellis, and Anne (John) Carlino to cherish his memory. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Coral Springs Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
