Richard Manrique, 35, of Coral Springs, FL passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 under Hospice care at Broward Health North. Richard was born on April 9, 1978 in Chicago, IL to Jesus and Cielo Manrique. At a young age, his parents divorced. Cielo married Juan Cruz and he treated Richie like his own son. As a child, Richie loved to play sports, especially soccer. More recently, he enjoyed playing recreational soccer and watching his favorite soccer teams, Santa Fe and the Colombian National Soccer Team. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. Richard was very interested in all kinds of music, from classical to the classics to international. Richie was an extremely talented musician as well. From guitar to congas, he could play almost anything he picked up and was quite a DJ as well. Richie also loved to be outside and loved the thrill of riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed traveling, and his career with Delta afforded him the ability to do so. Another of Richard's hobbies was to fix up cars by adding music systems, tint and rims. Julian Manrique, Richie's son, was his sole reason for living and breathing. He also leaves by his mother, Cielo (Juan) Cruz of Coral Springs, FL; father, Jesus Manrique of Tamarac, FL; sister, Marilyn Manrique of Weston, FL; nephew, Victor Manuel Gutierrez; and maternal grandfather, Hernando Baquero to cherish his memory. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Blanca Baquero, Irene Manrique, and Pablo Manrique. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Coral Springs Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M.
