IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Regis A.
Provost
July 15, 1924 – October 1, 2021
Regis A. Provost, 97, passed peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2021 in Coral Springs, Fla., where he lived for the past 12 years.
Mr. Provost was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey (Marlier) Provost and three siblings, Andre Provost, of Sacramento, California; Janine Provost, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Adrien Provost of Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. Provost was a native of Lewiston, Maine. His parents, Adrien and Marie Louise (Bresson) Provost, owned and operated P&P Fuel Co there and were prominent members of the community. He attended Catholic schools and was a devout Catholic throughout his life. After high school, he enlisted in the Marines during WWII, and achieved the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, where he did intelligence work, decoding communications. A surgery kept him from being sent to the front lines in Europe.
After meeting in Maine, Mr. and Mrs. Provost spent several years there, moving their young family to Fort Lauderdale in 1956. He worked for Florida Power & Light Co. for 31 years prior to his retirement in 1988. She was a homemaker and dietician.
Mr. Provost enjoyed playing sports – tennis, golf, and ping pong – and watching them, live or on television. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins and the Boston Red Sox. He was also a lover of music and movies.
Mr. Provost is survived by five children: Denise Provost (Geoffrey Forrest) of Somerville, Mass.; Michele Berlow (Bill) of Tallahassee, Fla.; Patrice Provost of Tallahassee; Anita DeNicola of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and Marc Provost (Beverly) of Coral Springs. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive him.
Mr. Provost will be interred next to his wife at 1:30 PM on October 22, 2021 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
