Raul Gonzalez 82 died Sunday, October 3, 2021 following a brief terminal illness of pulmonary fibrosis.

He leaves his son, Raul Gonzalez, Jr,  his daughter &. Son in law, Lourdes & Elmer Rivera and his two precious granddaughters Tiffany Rivera & Alyssa Filon and his newest treasured member of the family his great  granddaughter Elliana Filon; and many close family and friends.

Born and raised in Lares, Puerto Rico but during his teenage years moved to Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. He loved his children and was respectful and kind to all. He loved being a staple in the life of his family and friends always willing to be the handyman, baseball and favorite team the Mets, his red convertible, and the sound of the ocean waves.

Raul was adored by all but always had a way with his words. His passion in life was music.  Until his last day he was still writing poetry and composing music. His favorite type of music was the classical Spanish "Trio" and slow "balada".  He was a music composer and was able to record four songs with the help of his two talented musician friends Carlos Rivas and Pedro Pablo.

Raul's belief in life was that it should be lived to the fullest and we should always celebrate life. In honor of his life, his wishes are for those that want to remember him to plant a tree in his memory to create life.  Raul suffered from pulmonary fibrosis and in the end it was the lack of oxygen that was the hardest struggle of his illness. It would be only fitting to plant a tree in his name to continue his life and legacy and create plenty of clean air and breaths of fresh air to all.  To all that knew him let the memory of this special man, brother, grandfather and friend live on.
