Purificacion R. Claudio, 95, of Coral Springs, FL passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Pura, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 15, 1919 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico to Feliciano and Josefa (Aguiles) Rodriguez. A very spiritual woman, Pura loved the outdoors, especially gardening and being oceanside. She was a wonderful cook and found great joy in preparing large meals for her family. She also enjoyed knitting. Pura met Saro Claudio in Puerto Rico. They later reconnected in Manhattan and married on April 21, 1945. The Claudio's remained in Manhattan for a number of years, raising two children. They decided to move back to their homeland and Saro passed away there 21 years ago. After the death of her husband, Pura moved to South Florida to live with her daughter. She is survived by her children, Norma (Alan) Fogelstrom and Jose (Evelyn) Claudio; her grandchildren, Derek Fogelstrom, Sean Fogelstrom, Michelle Claudio, Jose Claudio, and Daniel Claudio; and many nephews and nieces. Pura was preceded in death by her husband and 8 siblings.
