Obituary

Paul Asbury, 85, of Lauderhill, Florida passed peacefully into the presence of God on November 3, 2016. He was born on October 19, 1931, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Maggie and Golden Asbury. Paul was the second child to enter their lives. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. While in the service, he married his high school sweetheart Dolores Burford, and they then moved to Arlington, Virginia. Paul pursued a career in construction and raised his family with love in northern Virginia. While there, his family finally found a church where they were able to fully embrace the Gospel of Christ. After becoming a Christian, Paul loved to expand his knowledge of his religion. His love of Christ compelled him to volunteer in the prison ministry. Thus began 60 years of distributing Bibles and Christian literature to prison inmates.

Paul was a kind and caring man who loved God, his family, and friends. He was always ready to help any way he could. He served his church as an ordained deacon, teacher, counselor, and helped to established a Christian school which continues to this day. Some of his hobbies included working on clocks and repairing Bibles.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Asbury, his children Michael (Suzanne) Asbury and Glenn (Holly) Asbury, his grandchildren Paul (Tracy) Asbury, Brian (Michelle) Asbury and Alisha (Dan) Davis, as well as his eighteen great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Tandy Asbury, and sisters Vonda Renning and Larue White. His memory will live on through his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed.

A viewing will take place at Coral Springs Funeral Home on Friday, November 11th 2016 from 5pm until 9pm. Services will be held Saturday November 12th 2016 at Plantation Baptist Church, to begin with a viewing at 10am and services following beginning at 11am. Paul will be laid to rest with Honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Monday, November 14th 2016 at 2pm.
