Owen Preston "Jake" Richmond was born December 20, 1930 in Detroit Michigan. His mother (Miriam) and father (Ernest) were divorced when in Owen was small. His mother, a religious strong loving woman raised her five children (Glen, Betty, Owen, Donald and Frederick) alone.
Owen was married quite young and they had one son (Harold David). Later he met and married Shirley who had two children from previous marriages (Theodore and Lori). Together over 50 years they had four children (Randall, Frederick, John and Robert). Owen also has 1 sister: Betty Harper and 1 brother: Donald Richmond surviving and their combined children gave them 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Owen was a good father to all of his sons, daughter, and nieces and nephews. He treated them all as his own. They, plus his "adopted" nieces and nephews, were his family.
Owen loved all sports, was Little League coach for both baseball and football when boys were young. He bowled with 185 average. Loved going camping with Parks family (childhood friends) that had nine children. "Uncle Jake" and "Uncle Kenny" would load campers, tents, wives and all 15 kids and head for Oscado Michigan whenever possible. HUGE pots of chili! Joyful Time.
Owen also loved singing (knew all words of any of the older songs), University of Michigan (had always wanted to attend), John Wayne movies, "Thunder Road" , NASCAR (Jeff Gordon), going with son(s) to American Legion Hall. But most of all he loved his family and he will be missed by us all.
Love you Jake.
