Obituary

Dance unto the light, Sway to the sounds of time, Watch the angels bright, As they dance within your memories & heart, Wipe those tears & dance with me family & friends, To the beauty of Laugher, Love & a new LIFE! Otilia Ward, 95, was in the arms of her loving daughters Jackie & Judy as flights of angels sang her to rest on Monday, November 25th, 2013. She slipped quietly into the arms of our Heavenly Father, one day shy of her 96th Birthday. Otilia aka Abuelita was a great womana strong independent woman. She taught us all what it means to be strong and fight for what you want in life and lead by example even during her last few months of life. Otilia was a devoted and practicing Roman Catholic. She married on May 14, 1949 and had three children Margaret Jayne, Jacqueline Ann and Judith Barbara. Otilia was a Registered Nurse who began her career in Panama and lived there until 1957. She retired in 1981 from St. John's Queens Hospital in Elmhurst, NY and always took great pride in her work ethics. She was very proud to have two granddaughters Crystal & Vanessa to follow in her footsteps who have become Registered Nurses. What brought her the most joy and filled her completely were her beautiful daughters, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and extended family! Otilia was preceded in death by her 15 siblings and reunited with her daughter Margaret Jayne Ward. So, here's to Abuelita as she would say WELL WELL WELL or WELL HELLO-HA! Join us for Abuelita's Goodie-Goodies and share stories to remember the life of Otilia Sorto Ward on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Savino-Weissman Funeral Home, 2950 N.
