Mona Helene Howard De Vlieger died on December 12, 2018, with Marc, her husband of 36 years by her side.

She was the daughter of Barbara Topel Howard and David Leonard Howard (both deceased). She is survived by Marc, her sons Matthew and Justin (Jacklyn), granddaughter Briana, sister Madelyn (Greg) Morris, and brother Jeffrey (Gennine) Howard. Her maternal warmth and love extended to all of her nieces, nephews, and generations of cousins.

Born and raised in New York and New Jersey, she graduated from Westfield Senior High School, Class of 1974. Her family moved to Southern Florida, where she attended Broward Community College. In 1981, Mona met Marc, and were married the following year. After raising their two boys, Mona went back to school to pursue her dream of becoming a dental hygienist.

She was an extremely devoted daughter and took great pride in her care of her mother. Mona had an incredible energy that touched everyone she met. Her enormous heart, love for others, and compassion for the underdog always brought together friends and family from far and wide. She lived her life on her own terms and made even the simplest things special. She will be deeply missed.
