Miroslav "Milo" Strizelka, 83, of Daytona Beach, FL died Monday, March 3, 2014. Milo was born July 29, 1930 in Cleveland, OH to Frank and Mary Strizelka. Upon graduating high school, Milo joined the United States Army. After he was honorably discharged from the service, he began working for the US Postal Service in Cleveland,Ohio. In 1967 he and his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he continued working for the Postal Service. In the late 60's, he and his wife Peg opened the family Pizza Shop "Strizzi's" . While running the business, he also worked as a skilled carpenter which he continued until his retirement in 1993. Milo loved sports and spent many years as a coach and umpire for the Federal League at Little Yankee Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. He was known to many as "Papa Stri." He was very supportive and involved with his son's sporting events and this continued with each of his grandchildren. While he was not able to coach or umpire, his presence was always there cheering and encouraging each of them during their games. Milo is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Strizelka; his sons, Frank Strizelka and Milo Strizelka. He also leaves his grandchildren, Cheryl, Michael, Christina, Brittany, Kimberly, Daniel and Jacob and great granddaughter, Jordynn to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank. Friends may pay their respects during a Memorial Gathering that will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Coral Springs Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of one's choice in Milo's memory.
