Obituary

Matilda "Granny" Garrick (nee Cowans) died in her home on February 17, 2016 in Tamarac, FL due to complications following congestive heart failure. She was 89.

Ms. Garrick was born on April 8, 1926 in Port Morant, Jamaica to her parents, Madeline and Aaron Cowans. She attended Port Morant Primary School. She married Robert Garrick and had two children in Jamaica, Lorna and Karl, before relocating to London, England, where they then became a family of five with the addition of their third child, Neville. In England, Matilda had full life as a homemaker, with her children. The Garricks then moved to Brooklyn, NY where Matilda worked as a live-in care taker.

Ms. Garrick was a confident and dedicated Christian woman with a passion for Psalms and the word of God. Her lifelong goal was to travel the world.

Ms. Garrick is survived by her sons, Karl and Neville, many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; in addition to two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Garrick and her daughter, Lorna Campbell.

Matlida's life was full, fruitful and blessed.
