Mary Catherine Oster, age 90, died peacefully on March 25, 2018 surrounded by family after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Mary was born July 27, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Patric and Margaret Mooney. Mary was the third of eleven Mooney children who all pitched in to help their mother after the death of their father in 1940.

Mary married the love of her life, Stetson E. Oster in 1948.  They began their life together in Springfield, Ohio and started their family of two sons.  In 1965, they moved to South Florida where Stetson supported the family as a public school teacher, and Mary was a stay-at-home mother. Later, she became a Unit Secretary at Plantation General Hospital where she worked until retirement.

Upon retirement, she and Stetson moved to Ocala, Florida where they became active in the square dancing community. They enjoyed the comradery, activity, and travel that square dancing offered.

Mary is survived by her husband Stetson Oster of Tamarac, FL; sons Ron (Brenda) Oster of Tamarac, FL and Shawn Oster of Pompano Beach, FL; grandchildren Maryjo Oster of Washington, DC, Jonathan Oster of Clermont, FL and Jennifer (Scott) Matus of Los Angeles, CA; brother James Mooney of Hudson, FL; sisters Helen Mooney of Muncy, PA and Patricia (Russell) Pamer of Springfield, Ohio; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service at will be held at Plantation United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ( www.michaeljfox.org ).
