Born in Filandari, Italy to Antonio and Carmela Mazzitello on February 18th 1922, one of 11 children, Marina lived in Italy until 1957, when she and her family moved to Long Island, New York. She was dedicated to raising her children with all the love and attention they deserved, providing her family with delicious food, and making the world around her a more beautiful place whether it be by gardening or cleaning her own home. In 1974 the whole family moved to Florida, where they all still reside. Marina loved having her family close and her family loved having her near; She always shared her space. After school, after work, none of her children and grandchildren found it necessary to go anywhere but Nanna's (as she was affectionately called) house, where there was always great Italian food to be found.
A Visitation for Marina will be held on Wednesday, February 15th 2017 from 6-9pm at Coral Springs Funeral Home, with a wake service to be held at 7pm. On Thursday, February 16th 2017 a Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland at 10:30am, to be followed by her internment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale.
