Marie Ann Kunkel Lind
November 26, 1934 - July 23, 2023

Marie Ann Kunkel Lind, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Margate, FL, on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Marie was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived there for 40 years. After graduating from St. Michael High School, she went on to work for Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ, for 18 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother and later returning to part-time office work.

Marie and her beloved husband, Harold, settled in Piscataway, NJ, where they raised their daughter, Deborah, and son, John. They were married for 52 years. Marie had a warm and welcoming spirit and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at many gatherings over the years. She and Harold took great pride in seeing their children grow up and embark on successful careers: John in the financial industry and Deborah in marketing and sales.

In 2010, Marie and Harold moved with Deborah to Margate, FL, to be closer to John (and to give Harold a break from maintaining their grounds up North!). They thrived in their 55-plus community and made dear friends among their neighbors, as well as maintaining loving relationships with their children and many nieces and nephews.

Marie's generous and caring nature was expressed in many ways, from volunteering as a candy striper at hospitals as a teenager, to teaching disabled children, to supporting many charitable organizations. She also had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling with Harold and Deborah throughout the US, Europe, and the Caribbean.

The Roman Catholic Church was very important to Marie throughout her life, and she was an active member of many parish groups including sodalities, the Marion Society, and the Rosary Altar Society. Her Christian faith was a source of strength and healing when her son, John, passed away in 2018, followed by Harold's death in 2021. She always believed their love would endure and they would all be reunited in heaven.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Lind; her son, John Lind; her parents, Anthony and Catherine Kunkel; her brothers, Sonny and Bill Kunkel; and her sisters, Sis Clossey and Geraldine Format.

Surviving are her loving daughter, Deborah Lind, and 11 cherished nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Coral Springs Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 3, at 11 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Burial services will follow at approximately 12:30 pm at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
