Maria (Quere) de las Nieves Gomez, 86, of Tamarac, Florida entered into eternal rest on Tuesday April 16, 2024. She is survived by her children Franciso (Panchito) Diaz, Rolando(Roly) Roberto Diaz, Maria Teresa (Terry) Richardson, and Lazaro (Laz) Andres Diaz. Also, left to cherish her memory are her 14 grandchildren: Lazarus, Nicklaus, Isabella, Ariel, Gabriel, Rocio, Angelique, Yamira, Rolando Robert Jr., Marilyn, Jackie, Rodrigo, Christina, and Michael and her 15 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mila, Lucas, Noah, Daniel, Owen, Bentley, Alexander, Jordan, Charlotte, Jose, Talia, Karen, Jaren, and Jaron. She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Marie (Elena) Campasano, her parents, Emilio de las Nieves Gomez,and Pascuala Amador. As well as her ex-husband Fransico (Rolo) Diaz.

Maria was born on July 9, 1937, in Consolación del Sur, Cuba. She grew up in Marianao, Cuba and was married at the young age of 15 years old to Francisco Diaz in 1952. Together they welcomed five wonderful children into the world. In 1968 she and her family immigrated to the United States, living first in New York City and then in Boston Massachusetts. After Maria and Francisco divorced in 1972, she worked in various jobs including as a circuit board technician with Honeywell. After retirement, she followed her sons to Florida, buying her first home where she lived until her passing. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She enjoyed being sociable, was young at heart, and had a charismatic personality. She loved decorating,painting, working on puzzles, shopping, and was known as a fantastic cook. Although she was far from being wealthy, she was a devoted supporter and monthly donor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
