IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luz Rosita
Gabunada Albarracin
September 29, 1947 – November 15, 2025
Dr. Luz Rosita Gabunada Albarracin, 78, of the Philippines, entered the Kingdom of God on November 15th, 2025. She is survived by her children: Bernabe Gabunada Albarracin Jr,Alexander Gabunada Albarracin, Cynthia A. Sevella and Nicholas A. Nwoke. Also left to cherish her memory are her six grandchildren: Jason, Justin, Al Brian, Ros Christelle, Brent Christian, and Mattheus; her two great-grandchildren, Ian Brille and Rich Braine; as well as her three daughters-in-law, Stephanie Nwoke, Rosell Albarracin, and Ritchelle Albarracin. She is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Gabunada Albarracin, and her brothers, Joseph and Jun Gabunada.
Dr. Luz was born on September 29th, 1947, in Cebu, Philippines, to her parents Librado and Tuling. She spent most of her career as an educator, teaching around the world—including in Nigeria, where she served as a Catholic missionary. She came to the United States in the 1980s, where she taught in schools and earned two bachelor's degrees, four master's degrees, and a PhD in Education. She was deeply loved by her students, and she eventually helped shape public education in New York City through her work at the Department of Education. An entrepreneur at heart, she later joined and built an Amway business with her son Nick. She built a sizable organization, achieving the Platinum level and creating a team of hundreds of business owners across the United States and beyond. She touched the lives of many through her Amway story and her dedication to personal growth.
Dr. Luz was a light wherever she went and within every community she belonged to. A devout Catholic, she deeply loved the Lord. Admirable and respected, she spoke with passion and truth. She was a force of resilience and perseverance, overcoming many challenges with grace and dignity. In her later years, she became known for her beautiful garden—especially her beloved papayas—and as "Nana," a title that marked her home as her grandchildren's favorite place to be.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Dr. Luz Rosita Gabunada Albarracin. It is an honor for Coral Springs Funeral Home to be entrusted with the arrangements for her final services. We invite you to offer your messages of sympathy and support by sharing a condolence in her online guestbook.
