Kenneth John Burger, age 79, of Deerfield Beach Florida and former resident of Belmar, New Jersey, passed away after a prolonged illness and went home to the heavenly kingdom of eternal life on January 18, 2014. A celebration of life service will be held at 930 AM on January 21, 2014 at St. Ambrose Church in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Another celebration of life service is being held on February 8, 2014 at Saint Rose Church in Belmar, New Jersey. Kenny was born in Newark New Jersey on January 17, 1935. He graduated from Irvington Technical High School and continued on to receive an associate's degree in criminal justice from Ocean County Community College. Kenny was married to his lifelong companion, best friend and first love, Constance Miele on December 11, 1954; they were happily married for 59 years.Kenny worked as a police officer and sergeant for the City of Belmar, New Jersey starting in August of 1962 for 25 years before retiring to Florida in November 1987. He also served for 27 years as a firefighter with the Belmar Volunteer Hook and Ladder Company. He enjoyed walking, going to the beach, sitting by the poolside, swimming, playing cards with his friends and professional sports but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Kenny is survived by Constance Burger, his wife, his only son Kevin Burger of Parkland, Florida, his three daughters Lori Campbell of Belmar, New Jersey, Tracey Burkart of Bricktown, New Jersey and Kristine Burd of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Burger and Mae Kachlreiss, and by his only sister Eunice Kachlreiss.
