IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth L
Brockway
July 18, 1948 – December 22, 2025
Kenneth L. Brockway , 77, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara Greendyke Brockway ; their children, Kim Brockway and Kenneth Chad Brockway (Debra) ; and four cherished grandchildren, Haley Gianfortune, Andrew Fortner, Cooper Brockway, and Abbey Fortner . He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Brockway , and his parents, Lyle and Maria Brockway .
Kenneth was born on July 18, 1948, in Vicksburg, Michigan, to Maria and Lyle Brockway. He attended Vicksburg High School and began his college education on football and tennis scholarships at Olivet College. He later graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in marketing and went on to earn a master's degree in finance, also from Western Michigan University.
Ken met his soulmate, Barbara, in high school, and they were married on June 30, 1967. Together, they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and encouragement, supporting one another's dreams and raising two children.
Ken began his professional career by following in his father's footsteps at Consumers Power. The family settled in Jackson, Michigan, where Ken encouraged Barb to pursue her dream of a college education. During that time, the kids learned to love SpaghettiOs with meatballs while Barb commuted to Michigan State University.
Ken's career in power generation/coal later took the family to Portland, Oregon; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Houston/Sugar Land, Texas. In 1990, Ken and Barb moved to Florida, where he once again encouraged Barb to pursue her career, and together they co-founded Lifecare Therapy Services . Ken retired from Florida Power & Light after 28 years of dedicated service.
Family was always central to Ken's life. He was a constant presence at his children's and grandchildren's activities, proudly attending events that ranged from swim club, soccer, basketball, football, field hockey, baseball, softball, and cheer.
Sports were a lifelong passion. Ken was a devoted fan of the Lions, Tigers, Trail Blazers, Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, MSU Spartans and the USAFA Falcons—and later the Heat, Marlins, and Dolphins, where he and Barb proudly held season tickets for over 20 years.
Ken's faith was another constant throughout his life. He was an active and devoted member of the local Methodist Church, serving in the choir, on the Pastor-Parish and Finance Committees, and as a lay leader. He supported numerous outreach programs, including No More Malaria, A Night to Shine , building sets for Vacation Bible School productions, and staying overnight to support Family Promise . One of his proudest moments was witnessing his brother Michael's ordination as a Methodist minister.
Ken will be remembered for his unwavering support of family, deep faith, generosity of spirit, love of sports, and his quiet strength as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he so dearly loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 3rd at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches (900 Brandywine Road West Palm Beach FL). In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the church.
