Karol R. Stewart, 83, of Pompano Beach, FL (formerly of Gainesville, FL) died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, April 14, 2014. Karol was born June 16, 1930 in Springhill Township, PA to Lloyd and Helen Stewart. The Stewart family moved to Donora, PA where Karol graduated from high school and then joined the United States Air Force where he served four years. After his discharge, he attended Sacramento State College where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting. Karol then worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service and continued working in various accounting positions for the State of California, Sacramento County, and Jefferson County, AL. After moving to Gainesville, FL in 1979, he worked for the Physical Plant Division at the University of Florida, from which he retired in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Stewart; daughters, Kristina (husband, Troy) Grenga (Rockville, MD), Karen Stewart (California), and Diane Ford (California); and sons, Joseph R. (wife Christina) Stewart (Coral Springs, FL), Terry Stewart (California) and David Stewart (California) along with several grandchildren in Florida and California. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
