Joseph Carmine Musitano, 87, died Saturday November 2, 2012 at Plantation General Hospital in Florida, following an extended illness. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife, Martha (Bruno) Musitano; his sons, Joseph P. Musitano, Steven Musitano and his wife Sara, his three grandchildren, Brandon, Allison, and August, his nieces Mafalda Henry, Rosetta Ranieri, and Teresa Masterson, and many other dear family and friends. Mr. Musitano was born in Delianuova, Italy, the son of Pasquale and Rosina Musitano. He immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, and years later became a resident of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. He proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. After serving with the United States Army, Mr. Musitano returned to Brooklyn and completed an apprenticeship as an electrician, and eventually created his own successful electrical contractor business. He not only took pride in his work, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Over many years, his expertise and reputation led him to various international jobs, including government positions in the Middle East. As a private contractor for the United States Army, he was also stationed on a U.S. military outpost high atop a beautiful mountain near his hometown in the southern Italian region of Calabria. He often visited his beloved relatives and friends in Italy over the years. Mr. Musitano's passion for living, strong mind, and great heart defined most of what he accomplished throughout his long, diverse life and travels. He will be dearly missed by his family friends.
