Joseph William Fulner, Jr., 73, of Margate, FL died on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale. Joseph was born October 31, 1940 in Plymouth, MI to Joseph and Irene Fulner. A member of Oriole Golf Course for over 30 years and a proud brother of Lauderdale Lakes Moose Lodge, Joe is most defined by his dedicated service as a paramedic/fireman. He began his career with the city of Margate as a volunteer firefighter and became the third paid fireman for the city. He later transferred to Dade County where he served for almost 30 years before retiring. The most important thing to Joe was his family. He always found time to be with them and particularly enjoyed doting on his grandchildren. It has been said "to know him is to love him" and that was certainly true. With his warm, caring ways and fantastic, if not sarcastic, sense of humor, he was a true gentleman. He will long be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Joseph is survived by Patricia A. Fulner; his children, Joseph Fulner III, Tami (Karl) George, Laurene (Chance) Smith, and Michael (Jessica) Fulner; and his grandchildren, Darryl Smith, William George, Michael George, and Kimberly George. He also leaves his siblings, Kathy Genaw, Richard Fulner, Mary Sparr, Sandy Lutz, Paula Fulner, and Edward Fulner; and many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Knudson. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Coral Springs Funeral Home, where a Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 P.M.
