On June 29th, 2016, John Schinelli Jr., 84, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully while sleeping on his favorite spot on the couch. Although we'll miss him very much, we know he's at home with The Good Lord in Heaven, and we will see him again one day. Hopefully, we'll all be as blessed as he to leave this world in the same way.

John was born unto John Sr. & Rose Schinelli in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his one & only, truest love of his life- Grace Schinelli, his 2 daughters- Vanessa & Lisa, his 3 grandchildren- Robert, Nicole & Douglas and his great grandson- Landon.

In 1950, John Schinelli served in the U.S. Navy and is a Korean War Vet. Fresh out of the Navy, John worked as a Police Officer for the NYPD, and later as a New York Firefighter (FDNY) for 20+ years with the Brooklyn Stuyvesant Fire Station, Engine #280. He then decided to pack up his family and headed to sunny South Florida, where he began a career with the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO). Soon after joining the BSO, he was appointed as the 1st Major and helped design the jail from the ground up, which sits there till this day. He retired as a Major in 1985.
