Joan Emily Hoffman, 71, of Tamarac, FL passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born on July 10, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Emily Nagel. She was raised by her grandmother, Olga. She married Edward Hoffman in 1961 and raised her family in Brooklyn until moving to Staten Island, NY. They later moved to Lakeville, PA where they enjoyed visits from family and friends. They also owned an antique shop and enjoyed going to auctions. In 2011, they relocated to Tamarac, FL to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Joan was a fun-loving and caring woman who often thought of others before herself. She really enjoyed music, dance, swimming, gardening and bowling. She also loved staying connected to family and friends on facebook. Joan loved sharing birthdays and holidays with her family. She treasured the time spent with her 3 granddaughters and great granddaughter. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Edward Hoffman; her children, Anthony Hoffman, Donna D'Ambrosio, and Denise Hoffman; her granddaughters, Danielle (D'Ambrosio) Benvenuto, Kimberly D'Ambrosio, and Emily D'Ambrosio; grandson-in-law Nicholas Benvenuto; her great granddaughter, Lily D'Ambrosio; and her dog, Penny. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-laws, Jeanette (Hoffman) Caruso and Barbara Hoffman; brother-in-law, Ralph Caruso; and her many caring nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Vitas Innovative Hospice, especially the Vitas Home Care Solutions nurses for their loving care and support.
