IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jesus A.
Tiel
September 27, 1929 – January 30, 2021
Jesus A. Tiel, 91, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, joined his wife and daughter in heaven on Saturday, January 30th 2021. Jesus is survived by his daughter, Carmen D. Tiel, his grandchildren, Lidya Rodriguez, Leticia Lamarque, Ines Rodriguez, Carlos Garcia and Enrique Garcia and his great-grandchildren Chloe and Joseph Lamarque. Jesus is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Blanca N. Tiel and daughter Blanca Tiel who we know were waiting for him in God's garden to live eternally in peace and happiness.
Jesus was born on September 27, 1929 to Lucrecia de La Presa and Pablo Manuel Tiel in Perico, Cuba. He was a radio technician in Cuba who brought his love of trinket tinkering to the United States and took a job with the Ford Motor Company in Missouri. After retiring, Jesus was never bored. If you couldn't find him, chances were that he was in the basement where he would spend hours tinkering with watches, radios and random car parts. He was a self-taught mechanic who refused to take his car in for service when he could figure it out himself simply by reading a few car manuals. His favorite pastime was to sit outside in his white plastic lawn chair with a good cigar and a bottle of Heineken while he would soak in the breeze and watch the birds in the trees. If you pulled out a game of dominos you've made his day! Jesus was a stubborn man whose favorite condiment was ketchup because none of us could possibly ever measure up to his wife's amazing cooking.
Jesus was a man who lived life for his family. He enjoyed dancing with his daughters, watching late night dubbed Japanese movies and old westerns and visiting Meramec Caverns with his family. He uncomfortably entertained random questions and childish jokes from his three granddaughters who he raised like his own…like the time we gave him swim trunks for father's day and surprised him by wetting him with the hose so we could show him how they changed colors. His great grandchildren melted his heart all over again with their constant kisses, dances and artwork.
He taught us all to be humble, to persevere, fight and to first and foremost, love and honor your family.
Jesus, Papi, Abuelo, every time we see a cardinal, we'll know that you are near. The world will not be the same without you, but our hearts are full knowing you've gained your wings and will spend eternity with the love of your life and your loving daughter. We will honor you, love you and live life to the fullest until we meet again. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten, we love you viejito lindo.
