Obituary

Janet Theresa Colombo passed away in Merritt Island, Florida, November 23, 2015 at the age of 76 after two courageous years of battling an illness. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Louis Joseph Colombo of 57 years. They were married in New Jersey on August 30, 1958. Janet is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Denise Colombo DeMartini and husband, Joseph DeMartini of Merritt Island, Florida; son, Louis Colombo and wife, Julie Colombo of Merritt Island, Florida; son, Michael Colombo and wife, Leigh Colombo, of Piedmont, South Carolina; daughter, Linda Colombo Weisbach and husband, Richard Weisbach of Greenville, South Carolina; and step-daughter, Ann Marie and Fred Brodany of Stony Point, New York. Nine grandchildren, Cristina Colombo, Emily Colombo, Louis Colombo, Santina DeMartini, Nicholas Colombo, Dylan Weisbach, Penelope Colombo, Joseph DeMartini and Joshua Weisbach; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Gaffney Powell, John Gaffney; and two great step-grandchildren, Olivia Powell and George Powell are left to cherish her memory. Janet is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Maryann Papaleo, of Coral Springs, Florida, Carol Roode, of Tamarac, Florida, Lois and James Saccomanno of Brewster, New York and brothers, Ciro and Carol Oliviero of Tamarac, Florida and Carl Oliviero of Coral Springs, Florida. Janet was also blessed with 16 beautiful nieces and nephews and 29 cherished great nieces and nephews. Janet was born in Bronx, New York, August 6, 1939. She graduated from Evander Childs High School in Bronx, New York. Janet enjoyed working as a surgical dermatologist assistant for over 20 years in Coral Springs, Florida where she resided for 29 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Janet was devoted to her entire family and spent all of her extra time celebrating life with them. Janet was more affectionately known as "Jay" to her friends and family. She was a very generous and loving woman. There will never be another "Jay." She will be forever loved and missed by those whose lives she touched. The visitation will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N University Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33071 on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 1500 State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, with entombment to immediately follow.
