Jackson Erwin
Herring
Nov 1, 1947 — Aug 16, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a heart filled with love that I, Maria, announce the passing of my beloved husband, Jackson Herring, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on November 1, 1947, Jackson graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1967 and Troy University in 1971. He dedicated 36 years to Walmart, retiring as a Market Manager. He was hardworking, devoted to his career, and took great pride in what he did.
Jackson was a compassionate, caring, and loving man—the most polite human being I have ever known. He treated everyone with the same kindness, dignity, and respect, regardless of color, race, or background.
Jackson loved golf and traveling, especially cruising. He loved being on a cruise ship so much that, if you asked him, he probably would have happily lived on one.
Above all, I know how deeply Jackson loved me. We shared 21 years of marriage, and I never had a doubt about his love for me. That love was one of the greatest gifts of my life, and I will carry it in my heart forever.
Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard E. Herring and Jean H. Herring, and his son, Jason Herring.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria; his son, Lance Herring; his brothers, Bernie Herring (Pat) and Clyde Herring; his sister, Sue Groce (Larry); and his two granddaughters, along with other family members and friends.
Rest peacefully, Jackson. You were loved beyond words, and you always will be.
