Dr. Humberto Javier Anicama, MD, 75, of Coral Springs, FL died on Friday, May 16, 2014. Humberto was born on October 12, 1938 in Ica, Peru to Humberto and Maria Anicama. Humberto was a graduate of National University of San Marcos, class of 1966. In 1968 he made the move to the United States where he began his residency in Internal Medicine at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. He completed his residency at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence, RI. Around 1990, Humberto moved to Coral Springs, FL with his wife, Deborah. Together they built a successful business, Ft. Lauderdale Renal Dialysis Center, where Dr. Anicama became a very well known and respected Nephrologist. For 50 years he offered service and mentorship to others and was well respected and admired by his peers, community, and patients. In his spare time, Humberto found great enjoyment in working out and playing tennis. An avid sports fan, he would watch anything from professional wrestling to basketball, but he made sure his schedule was clear for the World Cup. A brilliant scholar, he possessed a deep knowledge and passion for world history, politics, medical science, music and art. He had strong family values and integrity, and was loyal, honest, kind and generous. He was a loving father and husband and will be missed greatly. Dr. Anicama is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Deborah his children, Javier Anicama, Jorge Anicama, and Jessica (Justin) Dailey his granddaughter, Olivia Angeline Dailey his brother, Jose Anicama and his wife, Elizabet Rosell Castillo and his niece and nephews, Joanna, Jeffrey, Enrique, and Alvaro A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew Catholic Church on June 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to American Red Cross, redcross.org, or National Kidney Foundation, kidney.org.
