Howard "Mike" Kirshon, 58, of Margate, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his residence.

Mike Kirshon was a quiet man, a good and steadfast friend to those who loved him. He had a deep spiritual nature that was not defined or confined by traditional religion, but was a man of deep faith. He loved reading the Scriptures and discussing their meaning with his wife Mary-Lou, and he often came up with some amazing insights.

As well as being a man of deep thought, Mike was also an avid motorcyclist. While living in Boston, he was an active member of the Harley Owners Group, and for nine years made the annual run to Washington DC to honor our Veterans in the Rolling Thunder Rally every Memorial Day. The Harley was also his Vehicle of Choice for long trips to vacation spots in Florida. He was an excellent rider and never had a serious accident.

Mike's love of America, and History was evident from his choice of traveling destinations. Gettysburg, Anteitam, Fredericksberg, Harpers Ferry, Yorktown, Jamestown, Williamsburg, Spotsylvania, St. Augustine, and of course, Washington DC were all places he explored on the Motorcycle.

Mike also loved snorkeling and horseback riding, both of which he had a chance to enjoy in Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, and The Florida Keys. He also enjoyed SCUBA briefly until his health made that difficult. He enjoyed flying as well, and had a real thrill when he was able to take the yoke of a private aircraft and sightsee Cape Cod, Massachusetts from the air.

Mike's favorite genre of Literature was Science Fiction, and he was an avid reader of Roger Zelazhny, Harry Harrison, and many others. He was thrilled when one of his favorite authors actually returned an email to him with a very personal and kind letter. Science Fiction was also his favorite movie genre, and he had a huge collection of Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, and other "Hard" Sci-Fi Movies and Series. His Favorite movie was "Blade Runner" starring a very young Harrison Ford.

Mike's Profession, Computer Engineering, was also his main hobby. He was always at the forefront of every new computer development, and was one of the first people to use LINUX. His specialty was Internet Security, but he could also bring a dead laptop back to life, restoring the operating system on his wife's computer more than once! He also kept all the electronics in his wife's Recording Studio humming and in perfect order.

Although he did not consider himself a "Musician", Mike was a very good guitar player and briefly played tenor sax in a church orchestra. His love for the Blues and Classic Rock could not be measured! Number One was the Rolling Stones, of whose music he knew every nuance. Even though he was a Rock and Blues Fan, he loved Beethoven and always enjoyed listening to his wife Mary-Lou play the piano.

He had a love of travel, but not as a typical tourist. He enjoyed Historical and Eco-Tours which many times turned into "Adventures". Things like hiking volcanoes, motorcycling the treacherous Hana Road in Maui, Visits to the The Kennedy Space Center to experience a Shuttle launch, riding a helicopter over an active volcano for a photo shoot.

Mike was a wonderful husband to his wife Mary-Lou. He gave her total freedom to explore her own dreams and celebrated her successes. He was a wonderful example of the Love Passage in 1 Corinthians; Patient and Kind, not putting on airs or taking account of wrongs suffered, not jealous or boastful, and bearing all things, believing all things, and giving of himself.

He leaves behind his wife Mary-Lou, his Brother Barry, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
