Helen Margaret Bruney, 86, of Coral Springs, FL passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. Helen was born on June 4, 1927 in Roseau, Dominica, West Indies to Wigley and Leone LaRonde. In 1967, she moved with her husband and 6 children from the Caribbean to Bronx, NY. Helen began working at Bronx Lebanon Hospital as a radiology clerk where she remained for 25 years. Upon her retirement, she moved to Coral Springs, FL in 1993. Helen was an extremely social woman. She loved to host parties at the family home and held 2 parties annually: a Halloween party and a BBQ to honor her co-workers. Helen was known as a happy, fun-loving, and hard working woman with a lot of good friends. Her faith was very strong and she regularly attended Mass until her health prevented her from doing so. Helen also loved her garden and would spend hours tending to her roses. Helen is survived by her children, Ricky, Pryor, Yvonne, Erland, Maureen and Irwin; 11 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ulrich, who was more lovingly known as Vince or Sect; and her 8 siblings. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
