Helda Miryam Calle, 80, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2025, her hands being held by her loved ones, comforted and surrounded as she took her last breath. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jorge Calle; her cherished sons, Edward and Michael (Jennifer) Calle; her adored grandchildren, Breanna, Daniel, and Jacob Calle; and her great-granddaughter, Harley Calle. Helda is also remembered fondly by extended family and dear friends who were touched by her warmth and spirit.

Helda was born on February 28th, 1945, in Honda, Tolima, Colombia, to her loving parents, Antonio Quinonez and Julia Galvin. She grew up in Honda, where she was affectionately known as a radiant and poised young pageant girl. In her youth, she was admired for her beauty and grace, which she carried with her throughout her life. In 1970, she embarked on a new journey, moving to the United States with her love, Jorge, and son, Michael. They were married in early 1971, settled in Stamford, Connecticut, and a few years later welcomed their second son, Edward. Helda built a fulfilling career working at the post office and became a cherished pillar of her community through her lifelong dedication to St. Benedict's Church. There, she ran the Catechesis program for many decades, where her final confirmation class included her own grandchildren, a testament to her legacy of faith and family.

Helda will be most remembered for her joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and vibrant personality. She brought life to every room she entered and laughter to every heart she touched. She loved to travel, spread the word of God, listen to mariachi music, and indulge in her favorite telenovelas. Known for her dazzling smile and infectious laugh, Helda never missed a moment to celebrate life — especially if there was a shot of Patrón to go with it. Her energy and memory will live on in every rosary prayed, every story shared, and every heart she helped shape.

Visitation will be held at Coral Springs Funeral Home on May 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial Mass will be held in Stamford, CT, with details to be announced by the family.
