Guy D. Gelin, of Port-Au-Prince Haiti, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 21, 2017 with his wife Ginette Madhere at his side, he was 69 years old. Guy is survived by his son Guy Gelin Jr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Christine and Natalie as well as his brothers Daniel Gelin, Reynold Gelin and his sister Yanick Gelin and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

Guy was born on August 28,1947 in Port-au-Prince Haiti, to his parents Nelson Gelin and Anne Marie Ducasse. He lived a full and active life and set on a great path early on, becoming a nationally recognized track star and avid soccer player. He then moved to Bronx, New York where he married his childhood sweetheart Ginette Madhere. After completing college, he returned with his family to Haiti in the early 70's to raise his one and only son Guy Jr. He begun his career in banking with Citibank but soon moved in the shipping industry where he rose to become a recognized name in the Caribbean market, eventually launching and growing Caribbean Transport S.A for close to a decade before shutting it down in the mid 80's. He briefly worked in the Haitian consulate in New York before returning to Haiti where operated various businesses along with his wife Ginette, those included a flower shop, restaurant and various real estate ventures.

Always the adventurer, Guy was the first to drive a vehicle over the southern mountain range of Haiti from the suburbs of Kenscoff into the city of Jacmel. He traveled extensively, helped countless people at various difficult stages in their lives and the only thing he enjoyed more than time with family was time with friends. This spirit exemplified how he lived his life and he will forever remain an inspiration to those who knew him best.
