Grace Sarta returned home to her Heavenly Father on September 3, 2014 at the age of 88. She was the beloved daughter of the late Albert Joseph Savold, who served our country in WW1, and Elsie Savold, who instilled in her a deep faith in God, which served her well throughout her life. She was also the beloved sister of the late Albert G. Savold, a Corporal in the Korean War. Grace was born on June 14, 1926 in Ridgewood, NY. After attending St. Matthias School, she worked for the phone company for several years. She later married Carmelo Salvatore Sarta, who preceded her in death and whom she now joins in eternal rest. It is because of her deep religious faith that she attended daily mass for over 30 years. When she retired, she became involved in Saint Matthew's Catholic Church in Hallandale Beach, Florida, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, delivering communion to those who were housebound. Within her retirement community, she frequently drove neighbors and friends who could no longer get around, to doctor's appointments or to run errands. She is survived by her seven children: her devoted daughter Marianne of Tamarac, FL, who was her loving and dedicated caregiver for over 10 years; daughter Betty and son-in-law Joseph of Medford, NY; her daughter Catherine of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; daughter Donna of Delmar, NY; her daughter Francine of Reading, PA; her son Christopher and daughter-in-law Julie of Harwinton, CT; and daughter Suzanne of Lynbrook, NY. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren: Rajesh, Prem, Maria, Laura, Dawn, Denise, Nicholas, Jennifer, Matthew, Bryan, Michael, Marissa, Sean, Daniel, Michelle, Vincent, and Jessica; and 11 great grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at St. Matthias Church, 58-15 Catalpa Avenue in Ridgewood, NY on Friday, September 12th at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
