Gilbert "Gil" Merle Reiking, Jr., 82, of Coral Springs, FL died peacefully at his home on March 3. Gil was born on March 7, 1931 and would have celebrated his 83rd birthday in the coming days. Gil was born in Johnstown, PA to Gilbert Merle Reiking, Sr. and Anna Kleinman Reiking. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy on the submarine Trumpetfish and traveled the world. Gil was a happy man, always with a story or a joke to share. He loved to golf and to cruise the Caribbean on vacations. He loved watching the beautiful Florida sunsets from his back patio every evening with his adored wife, Charlotte. Gil is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Charlotte Cicman Reiking: their children Carrie Joyce of Coral Springs, Cindy Reiking of Johnstown, PA and Gregory Reiking (Lorie Slanco Reiking) of Coral Springs. Gil has five grandchildren that he cherished throughout his life; Christine, Julie, Alex, Kyle and Sarah. Gil also leaves behind his siblings; two sisters, Esther Macfie of Pembroke Pines, FL, Maryjane Orzack of Margate, FL and one brother Joseph Reiking of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by two of his sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Hampton of Burlington, NJ and Betty Davis of Hollywood, FL . The life of Gil will be celebrated at a service on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2pm at Lutheran Ministry in Christ Church, 10021 W Sample Road, Coral Springs, FL. Friends and family are welcome to attend. The family welcomes donations to be made to Vitas Hospice or the American Heart Association in Gilbert Reiking's name.
