IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgianna Elizabeth
Conlin
September 30, 1943 – June 30, 2024
Georgianna Elizabeth Conlin, nee Phenneger, "Dolly"
September 30, 1943 —June 30, 2024
According to the official birth certificate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, she was born on September 31, 1943 (?). She was as unique as her birthday. She attended public school through high school — then received her training as a radiological technician from West Chester State College in PA and worked at Dupont Hospital and the Dupont Family in Wilmington, Delaware.
She married Robert Conlin in 1965 and moved with him to Selma, Alabama. In March of that year, she marched with Dr. Martin Luther King and Ralph Abernathy across the Edmund Pettis bridge. Her son Robert was born in July. She returned to Pennsylvania where her daughter, Denise, was born in 1966. Then she was off to Bangor, Maine. Then to Shreveport, Louisiana where she was trained as a lab technician by Dr. William H Browning MD, the President of the Southwest Allergy Association. Then a move to Miami, where she was employed by Pediatric Associates while attending Miami Dade Junior College. Then a move to Coral Springs, FL where she was employed by an Allergist Dr. Odze while attending Florida Atlantic University. After amassing nearly 200 credit hours, she was asked if she ever thought about graduating. Her answer was "NO". "Why?" they asked. She said "I love learning." When she decided to graduate, she thought how best she could help others. She had already been tutoring middle school students in math, so she got a degree in Education. As a student teacher at Forest Glen Middle School, she took the math team to the Broward County Math Competition where they came in second place. She graduated with honors from college and began teaching at Coral Springs Elementary then Eagle Ridge Elementary. When her husband retired, she quit teaching because "he needed a chaperone."
They traveled extensively in the US, Canada, Alaska, Ireland and Australia. She was an avid reader, a superb cook and green thumb gardener and had a terrific sense of humor.
She was an active member of St Andrew Catholic Church working in the Outreach department and she was the President of St Vincent De Paul Society.
She is survived by her husband Robert, her son Robert, daughter Denise (husband Joe Tracy) and grandson Robert. She will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the St Vincent De Paul Society of St Andrew Catholic Church, Coral Springs, FL or the Priests of the Sacred Heart PO Box 900, Hales Corners, W1 53130.
