Obituary

Frederick Earl "Fred" Pistorius

March 13, 1943 – September 8, 2025

Frederick Earl "Fred" Pistorius, 82, of Parkland, Florida, formerly of Marlton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on March 13, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Merlin and Helen Pistorius, Fred was the third of six children. Guided by deep Catholic faith, he was a 1961 graduate of Jesuit High School in Shreveport and attended Jesuit-run Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL, the city where he met Cassandra (née Milligan), his wife of 51 years. He remained a devout Catholic throughout his life and was a longtime, active parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church in Marlton and, later, Mary Help of Christians in Parkland.

Fred dedicated his career to education, serving as a teacher, guidance counselor and administrator in the Trenton public schools for over 40 years, where he impacted countless lives with his empathetic leadership and true concern for underserved children and young adults. After retiring, he enjoyed travelling, especially cruises with Cassandra, and the warmth and fellowship of both his New Jersey and Florida friends and extended family.

Fred was predeceased by the love of his life, Cassandra, his parents, three siblings - Joseph, Ann and Fran - and nephew, John Francis Childers. He is survived by his brother Paul Pistorius; sister Mary Childers; son Myles, his wife Robin, and their children Nathaniel, Lila, and Henry; son Derrick, his wife Ma Cheng, and their son Kristopher; son Justin, his children Julia and Andrew, and their mother Dr. Alicia Wang; son Branden, to whom he was fiercely devoted; and daughter Jennifer Crow, her husband Kevin and their daughter Olivia, as well as, nieces Beverly Cressman and Dr. Sarah Wheat, and nephews Charlie Boynton and Jamie Wheat.

Fred's life was one of faith, service, and devotion to his family. Fred was a loving husband and father, always putting the wants and needs of his wife and five children before his own. His legacy of selfless love will live on through his children and grandchildren and the many lives he touched.

A funeral mass will take place at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Parkland, FL at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26th.
