Obituary

Frank Anzalone, 90, of Tamarac FL entered into rest on May 16, 2018. He is survived by his two Daughters; Arlene Anzalone, who resided with him, and Lisa Anzalone of New York, who visited every chance she had. Frank has a very big extended and very close family, and leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. Also left to Cherish his memory is Candy, the crazy dog.
Born May 30, 1927 and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Frank's younger years were full of adventure. As the second youngest of six children his time was spent among family and friends. He had a band and was their drummer when the band played at weddings and local dances. His 'gang' of friends included two brothers, Steve and Rafe, who introduced him to their sister Rachel, whom he later married. Frank was always proud of the fact that he served his country; stationed in Germany during World War 2 with the United States Army he showed bravery and dedication for his country. He was truly a part of the Greatest Generation.
When Frank returned to New York from his time serving in the United States Army his father helped him get a job in the garment industry in Manhattan. He worked for 25 years at a clothing factory, Originala, that produced made to order fine women's coats for 25 years as a Floor Manager before it went out of business.  He then worked in  Brooklyn for Manischewitz wines. He worked in his brother-in- laws (Steve) private sanitation business for a few years in Manhattan, helping to keep the books where he grew very close to his two nephews.  He still had such fond memories of Steven buying him Chinese food for lunch. No matter what job Frank found himself involved in, he was always making the best of his responsibilities and giving his all.
In the late 1970s he and Rachel bought a vacation house in the Poconos.  He loved spending time there, especially when the extended family would come up for a weekend or holidays. He was notorious for keeping a clean house, surpassing even Rachel's cleaning standards. In one fond memory, his daughters can remember him vacuuming the flu of the fireplace while the rest of the family was already packed and waiting in the car to leave.  In 1987, Frank and Rachel sold their house in Brooklyn and moved to Florida. Frank loved Florida from the day they moved down.  He worked for his brother-in-law, Rafe at Big Irvs Farmers Market in Hollywood for several years until he retired. Never an idle man and not wanting to just stay home he then worked part time for a dental manufacturing company. He loved that job and would have stayed with it indefinitely but wound up fully retiring when his wife became ill in order to take care of her.

Frank's wife Rachel was his true love and the light of his life. He married her in 1951 and they remained together faithfully for 65 Wonderful Years of marriage. When Rachel passed in January, 2017 Frank had spared no amount of time being at her side. He took care of Rachel as her primary caregiver until his own health would not allow it, and knew that one day when he too passed they would be reunited. He loved her deeply, just as he loved the daughters they raised together.
Known as a gentle, loyal, and funny person,  Frank was a shoulder to lean on at any time. He became family easily- he was a caretaker at heart whether it be for his own wife, his mother-in-law, or his own or Rachel's sisters and brother-in-law. He was interested in so many things; he loved TV, Movies, and Music- especially the American Standards and the Big Band Era, but even modern tunes. Anything to do with World War 2 had his interest immediately, he loved sweets like the cherry desserts his nieces often brought him as treats, and creatures like insects and snakes were an interest to spend his time with. With all his interests it should be no surprise that he was a smart man but not even his Children knew he spoke Italian so well until they saw him speaking with Shopkeepers in Italy. Rachel had a passion for travel and so Frank shared many wonderful vacations with her in Europe, on cruises, traveled cross country several times and visited every state except Alaska during RV Adventures with family members.
Frank will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. He worked his way into every heart he touched and remained there by leaving a lasting impression with his wit, humor, and kindness.
