Ethlyn V. James, 69, of Lauderhill, FL joined her Lord in Heaven on the afternoon of Monday, June 24, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. Ethlyn graced the world with her birth on June 27, 1943 in St. Ann, Jamaica to Hezikiah and Urseline (Tracey) James. In Jamaica, Ethlyn was an English teacher. She continued her studies in nursing and began a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse. After moving to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1984 she worked for Municipal Hospital. Then in 1997, she moved to South Florida to enjoy warmer weather. There, she worked for HealthSouth Sunrise until her retirement. A woman of strong faith, she was a member of Strong Tower Ministries in Sunrise. She could often be overheard reminding others, "This too shall pass" and quoting scripture. Ethlyn enjoyed travelling and gardening. She was a true host and always fed her family and guests with fresh, homemade meals complete with dessert! Her banana fritters will remain a James Family favorite. Extremely devoted to her family, she was the matriarch. Words can not begin to express how much she will be missed. She is survived by her sons, Devon and Caswell Boreland; grandchildren, Makieda, Bianca, Devon, Jr., Keveana, Jayda, Tylee, Renee, and Caswell, Jr.; and great grandchild, Saniyah. She also leaves her siblings, Maudlyn Myres, Velma Hylton, Everton James, Richard James, Wilfred James, Albert James, Ernest James, Sydney James, and Noel James to cherish her memory. Ethlyn was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Thompson, and sister, Viola Williams. Friends may call on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Coral Springs Funeral Home. Ethlyn's Home Going services will be continued in Springfield, MA on Friday, July 5, 2013 and Saturday, July 6, 2013. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, MA.
