IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eleanor Agnes
Becker
November 16, 1932 – March 2, 2019
Eleanor Agnes Becker (Wituski) passed away on March 2, 2019 in Coral Springs, FL. She is the daughter of Bronislaus and Agnes Witulski of Buffalo, NY. Eleanor was born November 16, 1932 in Buffalo NY. She grew up on a small farm in Depew, NY. Eleanor attended the University of Rochester graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Optics. She soon began work in her field of education at the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory (CAL) adjacent to Buffalo International Airport.
Throughout her career she worked on a variety of research projects that included aviation, defense and early cellular telephone technology. Eleanor's work allowed her to live for extended periods in Oahu, Hawaii, Los Alamos New Mexico (White Sands Missile Range) and Stockholm, Sweden. Ultimately she retired from Cornell's (later Calspan) Buffalo, New York location in 1998.
Thanks to her son Robert, she discovered a condominium in Venice, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. This was her full time home for almost 20 years. Eleanor volunteered and supported the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Venice Community Theatre and the Venice Aviation Society. She is survived by her sons Alex and wife Joanne of Cornelius, North Carolina plus Robert and wife Kathy of North Lauderdale, Florida.
A memorial service is planned at Venice Beach. Please contact Alex or Robert Becker for information.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
