Dorothy Bassel, 81, of Snowtown, Alabama, passed away March 20, 2017 in Tamarac, Florida.

Dorothy was born in Snowtown, Alabama to James and Louise Henry on March 4, 1936. Dorothy is survived by her husband Roy Bassel of Detroit and in marriage for almost 60 years; daughter JoAnne Smith (Gary Smith); son Michael Bassel (Gerry Lachica); two grandchildren Eric and Erin Smith; two great- granddaughters Madeline and Maysie; sister Helen Kelley; sister Betty Edgemen; sister Margie Allen; and brother Lewis Henry.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, going to garage sales, trips to the casino, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Dorothy was always accepting and respectful of others. She was highly compassionate and the first to always lend a helping hand..

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family, friends, and medical staff who took care of Dorothy in her struggle with cancer. It was a miracle that she survived as long as she did. May God bless Dorothy and each of you.

A Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Friday, March 24th 2017 from 5-8pm at Coral Springs Funeral Home. A service will be held at 6pm.
