Dolores Buwick, 88

Dolores Julia Buwick, aged 88, went home to be with The Lord on May 31, 2017 as a resident of Parkland, Florida. Dee Dee was born December 2, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Felix and Julia Raudonis.

Dee Dee exhibited boundless joy throughout her life, particularly when playing games, cards, swimming, and watching sports, especially her beloved Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears (the boundless joy part came only when they were winning). She loved music, the beach and lively discussions, often all at the same time. But most of all she loved God and her family, as nothing made her happier than to have her flock gathered around her, be it at home or at play, whether it was participating at the game table or watching from the stands as her children or grandchildren performed on the court, field, or stage.

Dee Dee attended Kelly High School in Chicago, where she met the love of her life Gene J. Buwick, who passed away in 2004. She and Gene graduated from the University of Illinois and, after receiving their education degrees from the Urbana-Champaign campus, they went on to teach elementary school in Winnetka, IL and Long Beach, CA.

She invested countless hours volunteering her time at school, at church and in the community. A devout Christian, Dee Dee truly had the gift of hospitality, as anyone who passed through the doors of her home became an instant "friend of the family."

"Grammy" is survived by her four children: Dionne Livingston (Steve), Cindy Knapp (Doug), Tim Buwick (Mary), and David Buwick (Cheryl). She is celebrated by her 12 grandchildren: Tori Keramidas (Nik), Brett (Allison) and Todd Livingston (Anna Lauren), Brian (Cori), David and Kevin Knapp, Hannah, Julia, Victoria and Joshua Buwick, and Thomas and Sarah Buwick. She will be also be missed by her 5 great grandchildren: Lukas and Connor Karamidas, Grace and Emma Livingston and Joshua Knapp. She leaves behind a legacy of love with countless relatives and friends.

A celebration of Dolores Buwick's life will take place from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 4 at Aston Gardens Clubhouse, 5999 N. University Drive, Parkland, Florida 33067.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 12 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Drive in Fort Myers, Florida. The church number is 239-936-3635. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Sheridan House Family Ministries, 1700 S. Flamingo Road, Davie, Florida 33325.
